Chances are that if you've found your way here you know what a guide track is, but in essence it's a resource for choir singers to practice and be guided in learning new material between rehearsals. This resources has been called many things: Teacher Tracks, Practice Tapes, Practice Parts...the list goes on!
The key here is in the title...Online Conductor. All the resources we create are digital and are delivered by download. After purchase you will get an email with a time-sensitive link to download your products.
A Right Hand predominant mix puts the voice part in question (EG Tenor) in the RIGHT speaker/headphone and the other voices (EG SAB) in the LEFT speaker/headphone. This mixing gives the singer the opportunity to modify the mix themselves based on where they are in the learning of the song. At the start of the process they can fade out the other voices and turn up their own part by moving the balance fully to the right. Another simple way of doing this is to just use the right headphone. During the middle of the process they can have a more even balance between left and right, and towards the end move the balance to the left to test themselves. This system hands control to the singer and also saves having three different versions for each track (Part Solo, part missing, and part predominant). We do understand that this does not suit all choirs, and where possible also include a Solo Mix for each song, which just has the accompaniment and the voice part in question. While this is certainly accessible and functional, we do feel that it is easy to lose the context of your part this way.
We do also make sure that when we mix our RH Predominant files that the selected voice is still prominent regardless whether you have adjusted any fade/balance for maximum accessibility.
In the UK we drive on the left, and as most of our singers listen in their car, right is the best place for the predominant part as the driver is closer to that! We can even do couple-specific mixes where opposing voices are on each side of the mix.
As with most products on Online Conductor the resources are customizable. Please email ( mailbox@onlineconductor.com ) and ask. We will then upload to the website for you to purchase the song in the usual way.
We have a large library not yet uploaded to the website (we're too busy running choirs!). Please pop us an email ( mailbox@onlineconductor.com ) and ask. If we don't have it in our library then we can give a quote and timescale for the work. Obviously a simple job will be cheaper and delivered quicker.
Yes. The best way to do this is to select 'pay by paypal' in the checkout menu and make sure you select the right options along the way.
We are covered by a Limited Online Music Licence from the performing rights society (PRS) which enables us to sell recordings of music still in copyright via digital downloads. We do not sell physical discs for this reason, we are not covered to do so. We also purchase legal copies of all the music we record. In the description of every resource we provide links to shops where you can purchase the score/edition we worked from when recording.
Simple! Email us ( mailbox@onlineconductor.com ) and ask. Who knows, it may end up here!

Seb Farrall, creator of Online Conductor stands in front of nearly 200 community choir singers per week - all who use these digital resources to further their own singing and achieve far greater than those who don't have the resource. Gone are the days where there are pianos in every home with people to play them! We are in the guide-track age, let's embrace it!
Seb Farrall,
Founder of Online Conductor
"I've been conducting choirs professionally for a number of years now, and the incredible learning curve that guide tracks enable is remarkable. Every time we start a new song I have to remind myself quite how much it will improve when the singers get the tracks going. I will never forget how some singers from Sing it Loud, one of my earliest choirs, insisted on keeping their rehearsal CDs in the car stereo well after our concert because they loved listening to them so much. When I'm producing my guide tracks, that's who I think about - the singers and their need to enjoy the music. 'Good enough' is just not good enough. It must be enjoyable and therefore of good quality!
Anyway - I've set up this website so that I can share my resources with other people in this new 'guide track' choir age. I hope you find something useful to you. If you don't, let me know how I can improve things!
